Signs and Symptoms

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Swelling, pain and heat in the joints

Stiffness in the joints, especially in the morning

Persistent fatigue

Sleeping difficulties because of the pain

Weak muscles

Joints on both sides of the body are usually affected.



The symptoms of osteoarthritis can vary from one person to the next. Some of the more common symptoms include:


Joint pain

Muscle weakness


Commonly affected joints
Hands – usually the end finger joints

Spine – in the neck or lower back

Hips – older people are most at risk

Knees – might be caused by an old injury
