Common Snakes in East Gippsland

Scale: potentially fatal, dangerous, and non-venomous

 

          Alpine Copperhead: potentially fatal

          Common Copperhead: potentially fatal (rare in Gippsland, more likely in and around Melbourne)

          Small-eyed Snake: dangerous

          White-lipped Snake: dangerous

          Tiger Snake: potentially fatal

          Red-bellied Black Snake: dangerous

          Common Brown Snake: potentially fatal (extremely rare in East Gippsland, frequent Wester Victoria)

 

* Taipan: Only found in QLD and northern NSW, most toxic venomous snake in the world
